Lock Your Hitch with Confidence

We have the trailer hitch and coupler locks you need to keep your trailer secure. Take security a step further with a trailer hitch lock or coupler lock that is designed to keep your hitch-mounted accessory in place and prevent theft of your trailer. Shop our standard sizes in a variety of styles to perfectly suit your vehicle-trailer setup.

Hitch locks are important for trailer security. Like a hitch pin, a hitch lock is designed to insert into the fastener hole in the side of a receiver to hold a ball mount or hitch accessory in place. We offer barbell, dead-bolt and right-angle-style hitch locks in 1/4", 1/2" and 5/8" pin sizes for all standard receivers.

We also offer padlock and barbell-style coupler locks, featuring 1/4-turn lock activation and hardened steel locking pins for reliable security and easy operation. Made with a 1/4" locking pin and available in brass, stainless steel and black finishes to complement your trailer.

Sometimes a safety pin and coupler latch aren't enough to keep your trailer secure. The CURT universal trailer coupler lock offers premier security, prevents a trailer ball from being inserted into the coupler and fits most ball receivers.

Types of Hitch Locks

Choosing the right hitch lock is crucial to protect your trailer, truck, or RV from theft and unwanted movement. Below is a breakdown of the most popular styles, each engineered for different receiver sizes, mounting configurations, and security needs.

  1. Pin-Style (Barbell-Style) Locks
Also known as barbell locks, hitch pin locks feature a straight locking pin that inserts through the receiver and hitch shank and has a cap-style locking head that attaches to the end of the pin. Their slim, no-frills design makes them easy to carry and operate, while providing a solid deterrent against pin-pull theft.
  2. Ball-Style Locks
Ball-style locks mount onto your trailer’s coupler, securing the space where the hitch ball would be inserted. By locking in place where hitch and coupler meet, these locks eliminate the opportunity for potential thieves to hitch up to your trailer and tow it away without your knowing.
  3. Right-Angle Locks
For more ergonomic access or when clearance is tight — such as recessed receivers or bumper interference — a right-angle hitch lock offers a helpful solution. Its 90-degree-facing locking head provides easier access to the keyhole and helps clear obstructions while still delivering full locking security for standard receivers.
  4. Deadbolt-Style Locks
Using an internal deadbolt mechanism (rather than just a pin), deadbolt hitch locks offer an extra layer of security against prying or hammer-attack attempts. Their robust build make them ideal for protecting your hitch accessories and trailer.
  5. Adapter Sleeve Locks
Need to switch between 1/2" and 5/8" receiver openings? Adapter sleeve hitch locks include a removable sleeve that fits over a smaller shank, giving you two-size compatibility in one lock. This type of lock is perfect for fleets or users who swap between multiple towing setups.
  6. Anti-Rattle Locks
Engineered to clamp tight on the hitch shank, anti-rattle hitch locks not only secure your tow by preventing theft but also quiet annoying hitch movement. An integrated, threaded shim tightens the lock in place, delivering both security and a smoother ride.
  7. Coupler Locks
Specifically designed to fit over the trailer coupler latch, trailer hitch coupler locks prevent unauthorized hitching to any tow vehicle. They’re designed to be weather-resistant and key-operated, making them perfect for short-term stops or storage lots.
  8. Lock Sets (Keyed-Alike Sets)
Lock sets bundle multiple security devices in one — often a hitch lock plus a coupler lock— and operate with a single key. By keeping all your towing locks keyed alike, you eliminate the hassle of juggling multiple keys while staying fully protected.
