Why Professional Maintenance Matters
System Technology

Understanding Your System

How Your System Works

Your Solera® awning is a plug-in motorized appliance. The motor connects to a standard 110V outlet, keeping installation simple and operation reliable.

“My Awning Is Dead” - Common Misconception

Myth: “My awning is dead.”

Reality: It likely entered “Deep Sleep” mode due to a power interruption or motor protection trigger. Check that the unit is plugged into a working 110V outlet and the GFCI hasn’t tripped. This is a safety feature, not a failure.

Solution: Our technicians can wake the system and verify the control chain to get you back up and running.

How Wind Sensors Work

The sensor on your front bar detects vibration, not wind speed. Proper calibration ensures your awning retracts when needed without false alarms.

Too Sensitive: Your awning retracts in a light breeze (“Phantom Retraction”).

Not Sensitive Enough: It risks damage during actual high winds.

Professional Calibration: We calibrate this precisely using the manufacturer’s diagnostic tools, ensuring optimal protection without unnecessary retractions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Service Warranty

All our repair services come with a 90-day labor guarantee. Parts are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties.

How often should I service my awning?

We recommend a basic 'Spring Tune-Up' annually to lubricate joints and check the power connection and outlet. A Deep Clean is recommended every 3-5 years.

Can I use a pressure washer?

No. High pressure acts like a knife to acrylic fibers and can blow out seams. We use only low-pressure soft wash methods.

Is bleach safe?

Yes, for the fabric (Sunbrella is bleach-safe). However, bleach is corrosive to the metal frame and bolts. Our professionals protect the hardware while treating the fabric.

Why is water pooling on my awning?

Water pooling typically indicates the pitch needs adjustment. Over time, pitch arms can shift slightly, or seasonal changes may require recalibration. The awning needs a minimum 15-degree slope to shed water properly. We can adjust the pitch arms to restore proper drainage.
